FAQ about Results

MSAP-Ireland test results are current for two years. This means they can be used in an application for admission in the year of the test, and/or one year later. For example, if a candidate takes the test in 2023, the result can be used for admission in 2023 and 2024 only.

There is no restriction on the number of times you may take the MSAP Ireland test, provided you are a bona fide candidate each time. The test cannot be taken twice in the one year.

Using Previous MSAP Ireland Test Results

If you sat MSAP Ireland in 2022 and intend to use that score for university admission in 2023, you need to provide your 2022 MSAP Candidate ID number with your application to the CAO. Similarly, if you are intending to sit MSAP Ireland in 2023 but do not intend to apply for university admission until 2024, you will have to provide your MSAP 2023 Candidate ID number during the university application process in 2024 with your application to the CAO. You should be aware that university cut-offs may change from year to year.

If you sit for the MSAP Ireland test in both 2022 and 2023 and wish to use your 2022 results for admission in 2023, then you must provide a copy to the CAO.

The default results to be used will be 2023 unless you indicate otherwise. This is the candidate's responsibility. Neither ACER nor the CAO will make that decision on your behalf.
