MSAP Ireland scale scores

Candidates receive results for all modules of the MSAP test attempted. MSAP results are reported as scale scores on a range usually between 50 and 150, with a mean score of 100. The MSAP scale scores reflect the differing abilities of the candidates and are comparable across years.

There is no ‘pass’ or ‘fail’ for MSAP.
The university sets MSAP cut-off scores. These are the minimum MSAP scores required to secure an offer and may vary from year to year. The MSAP Office cannot give information regarding cut-off scores.

Results from separate modules are combined and averaged to provide an Overall Score.

What is a percentile ranking?

A percentile rank indicates how a candidate performed in relation to other candidates who sat MSAP in the same year, regardless of the course applied for.

A higher percentile indicates better performance and vice versa. For example, a candidate with a percentile rank of 80 has achieved a score that is as good as or better than 80% of the test-taking population.

University selection

Questions about offers of places should be directed to the university, not to the MSAP Office. We are not involved in the selection process and do not have this information.
